Photographs captured for Sostena Knitwear - a small, sustainable knitwear brand based in Cornwall, UK, run by a grandmother and granddaughter duo - Izzi and her Nana. They use a mixture of second hand, scrap yarns and small batches of Nana's hand-spun, hand-dyed wool that they process from the fleece of her neighbour's tiny flock of sheep.
I was partially raised by my grandmother. Having a single mom, who worked her butt off to make sure my sister and I have a good life, our grandmother paid an important role in our upbringing. Loosing her brought me to Buddhist practice and I wish I could spend more time with her. I think she would really love Cornwall.
When Izzy asked me to capture her and her nana’s Louise small knitting business I was all over the moon.
Shot on 35mm.
