COMMUNITY TEA SESSIONS in Cornwall
I love the simplicity of the tea. I love how everything else pauses when you hold a cup of tea in your hands. I love how tea brings people together. Over the years I’ve belonged to many communities — photographers, Buddhists, body-movers — but nothing has brought me more joy than making tea friends.
what to expect?
Our daily lives can be often pretty complicated which is why the idea behind these sessions is pretty simple:
We gather together to make tea friends share and steep different kinds of teas.
Bring with you tea and favourite teaware.
There is no theme for this session. You are welcome to bring any loose leaf tea or tisane.
the location…
This time, thanks to generosity of Dynamite Valley Brewery we are meeting at their cosy micro taproom in Penryn.
Address: Dynamite Valley Brewery, 15A Killigrew St, Falmouth TR11 3PN
Would you like me to host a Tea Session for your community?
I offer free Tea Sessions for creative communities, organisations, studios and workplaces — a simple invitation to gather, connect and share tea together.
A Tea Session is an informal, hands-on introduction to Gongfu tea. We’ll brew and taste different teas together, try different brewing methods and learn about the cultures and traditions of tea along the way. I’ll guide the session, but there’s no formal classroom setting: just tea, conversation, curiosity and plenty of tasting.
Why Tea?
When sharing tea we meet one another beyond roles and responsibilities and tea gives us a reason to sit down together. Brewing and tasting tea is a sensory experience: we notice the leaves, the aroma and how the flavour changes with each brew. It’s a simple, sociable way to slow the pace, share an experience and spend time together.
What will you learn?
You’ll learn the art of Gongfu tea: how to brew tea in different ways, taste and compare different teas, and learn about the culture and traditions that surround them. It’s a fun, hands-on and educational experience — informal, relaxed and with plenty of time to taste, ask questions and enjoy the process.
Sliding scale suggestion:
Tea Sessions are 90 minutes and are for groups of up to 8 people. I use a sliding scale so that different communities and organisations can take part at a rate that works for them.
£15 per person — Community rate
For community groups, grassroots organisations and groups working with limited budgets.
£25 per person — Standard rate
For workplaces, studios, cultural organisations and other organisations with a budget for learning and shared experiences.
£35 per person — Supporting rate
For organisations who are able to contribute a little more and help make lower-cost Tea Sessions possible for others.
The price includes the tea, equipment and a 90-minute guided Gongfu tea experience.
“I felt right at home when walking into this experience. Kasia was warm and welcoming. As someone who has recently moved to the area and meeting lots of new faces all at once, Kasia’s presence was grounding and easeful, there was care, but no fuss! Kasia’s knowledge & love of Tea was so clear, carried with a curiosity and informality that felt inclusive of everyone. Im so glad I found this community and Kasia’a integrated and embodied way of holding space.”

my tea story
One of my earliest memories is sitting in my grandmother’s tiny kitchen, playing wojna (a Polish card game) and drinking tea from little cups. I looked forward to these afternoons, led by candlelight, every week. I loved the smell of Yunnan tea, the steam rising from the teapot, and how special it all felt. Even that early in my life, I knew that sharing tea together is a love language.
When I moved to the UK thirteen years ago, I was surprised by the lack of choice when it came to tea. Here, tea was no longer made as loose leaf, and to my surprise, it was shared with milk. You could still sense that “putting the kettle on” meant something more than the simple act of making a hot beverage, but the magic of tea I experienced in my family home simply wasn’t there.
In 2021—the year we moved to Cornwall—after a local Zen meetup, I was first introduced to gongfu cha (功夫茶; making tea with skill). Engaging with tea in this way felt both exciting and strangely familiar. I was mesmerised by the teaware, and the taste of the tea transported me back to my grandmother’s tiny kitchen. Sharing tea together in that moment felt incredibly meaningful and marked the beginning of my deep respect and adoration for tea.
Since then, I have made many tea friends on my (somewhat short) tea journey, though unfortunately not many of them live nearby.
I hope that these community tea sessions will serve as a vessel for connection, education, and—perhaps most importantly—joy.
Raising a cup to all the tea shared so far—and all that’s still to come.
